Waste Minimization

Sustainability without compromise

Waste Minimization Services

Cura Environmental Solutions offers comprehensive commercial and industrial waste minimization services designed to reduce your environmental footprint and optimize operational efficiency. We divert approximately 80% of client waste from disposal, which reduces costs by 50–70% or more compared to incineration and fuel blending and keeps material out of landfills. In 2025, We’ve managed more than 100,000+ containers and generated millions in client cost savings.

We own no disposal sites. There is no facility of ours waiting to be filled, so your material goes to the outlet that actually fits it.

The Cura Advantage

What our waste minimization service produces, measured across our client base:

  • Industry expertise: Our waste specialists managed nearly 40,000+ containers through our Onsite Services division in 2025, across manufacturing, transportation, food and beverage, oil and gas, and more.
  • Sustainability: On average, we reduce the waste requiring disposal by approximately 80% through beneficial reuse and alternative management rather than landfill, incineration or fuel blending.
  • Cost savings: We have savings of 50–70% or more wherever we divert material from incineration.
  • Independent by design: We own no disposal sites and no response crews. Our independence removes the incentive to route your material toward our own facility.

Our Waste Minimization and Waste Reduction Services

Cura provides commercial and industrial waste reduction services that help facilities manage waste streams with greater control while maintaining regulatory compliance and sustainability goals. Our aim is to move your materials as high up the waste hierarchy as possible, transforming potential liabilities into valuable resources. We categorize our waste reduction services into three primary outcome levels. Here’s what we offer:

This is the highest value of waste minimization, where our specialists evaluate your waste streams and identify materials that can be routed to reuse or recycling. When a material can be reused or recycled, it may avoid becoming waste altogether or help reduce the volume of waste for disposal. This approach also helps control costs and support sustainability objectives.

“What I love about Cura’s service is the principle that nothing is waste until you declare it a waste. If a customer can be found that is able to take that product, everybody is better for it.”

— Safety Specialist, regional LTL carrier

When direct reuse or recycling isn’t feasible, we explore beneficial reuse options. They can include waste-to-energy or other approved outlets where the materials can be reused instead of being sent to disposal. This level focuses on off-spec products, such as paint punctured in transit, sanitizer past date, or anything mixed, contaminated or no longer sellable, that usually go to the incinerator or landfill by default.

Cura maintains a network of outlets that accept off-spec product for reuse. In many cases, a product that would cost $4,000–$12,000 to incinerate can instead be handled for $1,000 or less, saving 50–70% or more and achieving a materially better environmental outcome. We clear it from your terminals and docks, and it never becomes waste at all.

Materials with fuel value, such as certain solvents or byproducts, can be safely processed and blended to create viable alternative fuel sources. Fuel-value material can be put back to work and may qualify for regulatory exemptions.

“Cura offers an extensive network of reuse outlets through its beneficial reuse program. It’s a significant money and stress saver — it means we don’t have to get everything profiled and sent to one of the few disposal or incinerator facilities in the United States.”

— HazMat & Regulatory Compliance Manager, national LTL freight carrier

Disposal is reserved for materials for which no higher-value outcome is appropriate or economically viable. Since we do not own disposal sites, we route your waste streams and industrial byproducts to the approved outlet that genuinely fits the material.

An Emergency-Response Mentality, Applied to Waste

Most waste vendors treat waste as a slow, back-office transaction. We don’t. Cura manages your waste with the same urgency, ownership, and single-call simplicity that define our emergency response — because the faster material moves, the less it costs and the less risk it carries. Fiercely responsive. Fully independent. Focused entirely on your outcome.

Customized Waste Management Plans

Every facility has different waste streams and compliance considerations. Cura develops waste minimization service plans tailored to your business’s specific needs, whether you operate in manufacturing, transportation, food and beverage, oil and gas, or another sector with unique requirements.

A plan covers documentation and compliance requirements through to specific disposal-reduction targets, and gives your team a framework they can actually implement rather than a policy to file.

The program compounds where clients use both our emergency response and waste management services. We share standardized operating procedures with our nationwide contractor network, so spill remediation is performed to the standard our Onsite Services team needs. Proper remediation at the time of the incident allows our technicians to process containers quickly upon arrival. Done poorly, the same containers can take several additional hours, raising project costs and extending on-site time.

What I love about Cura’s service is the principle that nothing is waste until you declare it a waste. If a customer can be found that is able to take that product, everybody is better for it. Cura took our waste and cut it in half. We generated roughly 30 tons of waste in 2023, and we cut that down to under 15 tons last year, and our company grew significantly over that period, opening new service centers and expanding our territory. To cut waste in half on top of that growth was a really impressive achievement.

The core of what Cura does, and their key differentiator, is finding new homes for items we would normally have disposed of. They do not send everything to a landfill or an incinerator, instead they find another home or another use for it.

Continuous Improvement and Regulatory Reporting

Waste minimization is not a one-time effort. We monitor the strategies we put in place, track regulatory changes and refine plans as requirements move.

We maintain detailed records for every container, monitor accumulation dates and track waste from the moment it is generated until final treatment or disposal. Penalties from the Environmental Protection Agency and state violations can run from hundreds to thousands of dollars per day, which is why our current 97%+ compliance success rate across clients is meaningful.
