Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans are mandatory under U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules for certain non-transportation-related facilities that meet EPA oil storage and discharge-risk criteria. For instance, spill prevention planning may be needed if your aboveground oil storage capacity exceeds 1,320 U.S. gallons or your fully buried storage capacity exceeds 42,000 U.S. gallons, though there are exceptions to these rules.
Even if an older plan exists, it may need updating to reflect operational and regulatory changes.

For operations that have the potential to cause substantial harm to the environment by discharging oil into or on navigable waters or adjoining shorelines, our environmental planning consultants can determine whether you need to meet the EPA requirements for an FRP. When an FRP is required, we prepare a compliant oil spill emergency plan.
